Silent Bats Cost Hornets Baseball

For the second time in two days, the Chillicothe Hornets Baseball bats were silent in a loss at home.
Chillicothe managed just two hits in an 8-0 loss at home to St Joseph Lafayette.
The Irish scored two in the first inning off a single, an error and an RBI pop fly out to right field, and later off a single, stolen base and line drive single to the Hornets shortstop.
In the forth inning, Lafayette had a walk, a Chillicothe error then a single to score one run for a 3-0 lead.
The Irish then scored five in the sixth inning off two hits, two errors, a walk and a hit by pitch.
At the plate, Chillicothe managed just two hits in the game. Brock Ward had a double and Tucker Wagers had a single. Westley Brandsgaard and Mason Baxter both reached on errors.
Chillicothe used two pitchers that combined to allow eight runs, three of them earned, off nine hits with six strike outs and two walks.
The Lafayette pitchers struck out 11 Hornet batters and walked just one.

The Chillicothe Junior Varsity beat Lafayette Junior Varsity 6 to 4. Chillicothe JV scored two in the first, three in the second and one in the third inning.
Lafayette scored two in the first and tried to rally with two in the fourth but came up short. Chillicothe pitching held Lafayette to just one hit.
