Back To School Thursday – Use Caution In School Zones

When school starts on Thursday, the Chillicothe Police will be working with school officials to keep children safe.  Officer Whitney Murdock from the Chillicothe Police Department says students and drivers will share some of the responsibility of being safe around the school.  Officer Murdock says be aware of the School Zones.

When you see a school bus with yellow lights flashing, be prepared to stop, and when the lights turn red and the stop arm is extended you MUST stop and wait until the stop arm is retracted.  You should also be aware of students that may be running to catch that bus.

Murdock says put the devices away, especially when driving in the school zones.

There will be students walking in an near the streets and because they will not always be looking for you, watch for them and EXPECT they will do the unexpected.
