Swan Lake Opens To Dove Hunters This Year

Missouri’s Dove Hunting season opens September 1st and Swan Lake National Wildlife Refuge will have Dove Hunting available on the refuge this year.  The recently approved Refuge Hunting Plan opened approximately 150 acres of the refuge to dove hunting. The dove hunting area is located on the north end of the Refuge near the Hunting Headquarters.  These areas were planted in wheat last year and harvested this year.

Hunters need to check in at the Hunting Headquarters prior to entering the dove hunting area.  A Missouri Small Game Hunting Permit and a Migratory Bird Hunting Permit along with a check in stub are required to hunt dove on the refuge.

Hunters may check in 2 hours prior to official sunrise. There is no overnight camping allowed on the refuge.  Nontoxic shot is required while dove hunting on the refuge, lead shot is prohibited.  All Missouri Dove hunting regulations will apply.  Contact the refuge at (660) 856-3323 if you have any questions.
