Three Dead In Two Fatal Crashed Thursday Night

Two fatal accidents are being reported in the KCHI listening area for Thursday evening.

A head-on collision on US 65, south of Chillicothe, near Roach Lake, took the lives of both drivers.  The Missouri Highway Patrol reports 49-year-old Orville Cooper of Bosworth died at the scene of the accident that happened at about 6:53 pm.  23-year-old Nicholas Lawson of Chillicothe was taken to Hedrick Medical Center and was pronounced dead at about 7:57 pm.  According to the report, the accident happened as Lawson was northbound and Cooper was southbound, and Lawson crossed the center line, resulting in the crash.

An accident in Dekalb County took the life of a Stewartsville man Thursday evening following an accident on Missouri Highway 6, near Clarksdale.  71-year-old William Cornelius of Stewartsville died at Mosaic Life Care Center in St. Joseph at about 7:43 pm.  State Troopers report the accident happened at about 7:00 pm when Cornelius was westbound on Highway 6, driving a UTV and was hit from behind by a car driven by 24-year-old Mark Ramsey of St. Joseph, causing Cornelius to be ejected from the UTV.  Ramsey was not injured.
