Missouri Department of Conservation Offering Voluntary CWD Testing

Deer Hunters are encouraged to participate in voluntary CWD testing.  The testing for Chronic Wasting Disease is available through the entire season, and the hunters will receive the results of the test.

The testing is available at 11 select MDC offices around the state. Hunters can also take their deer to 64 participating taxidermists and meat processors located in the 48 counties of MDC’s CWD Management Zone.  The results of the testing can take up to 4 weeks to be received by the hunter.  To find testing locations, go on-line at mdc.mo.gov/cwd

 

Mandatory CWD Sampling in 31 counties will be for the opening weekend of the firearms deer season, November 10th and 11th.

MDC will conduct mandatory CWD sampling in 31 of the 48 counties of its CWD Management Zone during the opening weekend of the fall firearms deer season. Counties in the local area included in the mandatory testing for opening weekend include: The 31 counties for mandatory CWD sampling include Grundy, Linn and Sullivan in the local area.
