School District Makes Final Payment For School Construction

The final payment of $53,976 for the construction of the new Chillicothe elementary School and Early Childhood Education Center was approved by the Chillicothe R-II School Board.  Superintendent Dr Roger Barnes says this included the $49,000 for the additional parking area that was added just before the school year began.

Barnes says the total paid to Lauhon Construction to build the school was $13,874,020.  There are also payments for furnishings, playground equipment and other items that were purchased and installed separate from the contractor and work at some of the other buildings that bring the total cost to about $14,500,000.  Those funds were paid through the proceeds of the bond sales and from donations by various foundations and individuals.  The now begin the repayment of the bonds.
