K9 Handler Leaving Chris Mueller Leaving Sheriff’s Department

Deputy Chris Mueller

The Livingston County Sheriff’s Department’s K9 Handler, Deputy Chris Mueller, is leaving the department at the end of the year.  Sheriff Steve Cox says changes in Deputy Mueller’s life are providing him with better financial and family opportunities with his next job.

Cox says Mueller had a difficult time in making this decision and the department is saddened to see him leave.

Mueller was instrumental in helping raise funds for K-9 – Zaki and has helped form Zaki into an outstanding dual-purpose police K-9.

Cox says while Mueller is leaving, Zaki will remain with the department.  He says they have gone through an internal process and the next K-9 handler will be announced in the near future. The transition will take Zaki out of service for some time to permit the new K-9 handler to become well trained and ensure the deputy and Zaki work well together.
