The Chillicothe 8th Grade Basketball teams split a double header in the Friday’s opening round of the Hornet Hoops Tournament at the CMS Field House.
The CMS 8th Grade Girls team beat Kirksville 34-27. Kinlei Boley and Bre Pithan led the Lady Hornets with 12 points each. Kirsten Dunn had five points, Aliyah Briner and Cali Burkhardt had two points each and Hope Helton with a free throw. Also playing but not scoring were Katelyn Fleener and Lilly Basinger
The CMS 8th grade boys suffered a disappointing loss to Kirksville 47-27 to fall to 10-2 on the season. The 8th Grade Hornet Boys were led by Griff Bonderer with 12 points, Cayden Potter with 10, Wyatt Brandsgaard with five and playing time for Landon Winder, Isaiah Sprong and Trent Keith.
The two CMS 8th grade teams both have two games on the tournament Saturday at the Field House against Cameron at 8:00 and 9:15pm and Marshall at 3:00 and 4:15pm
