Extension Offering FREE Pesticide Applicator Training

For farmers to purchase or apply restricted use pesticides, they must first obtain a private pesticide applicator’s license. The University of Missouri Extension is offering a free course, February 6th at 9:00 am at the Mildred Litton Community Building on the grounds of the Litton Ag Campus.

Obtaining a private pesticide applicator’s license or renewing a license involves attending a training class or viewing the training video. The license must be renewed every five years. There is no charge for the class, but each farm must have a copy of the Private Pesticide Applicator Training Manual. You can bring your copy or plan to purchase one at the training session.

For more information about obtaining a private pesticide applicator’s license contact Valerie Tate, agronomy specialist for University of Missouri Extension at 660-895-5123.

An Ag Update will follow with information from MU Extension agriculture and natural resource specialists. Joe Koenen, ag business specialist will provide a 2019 Farm Market Outlook, Shawn Deering, livestock specialist will include some strategies for reducing open cows in the herd and there will be an Invasive Pest Update. The program will conclude by noon.
