Trenton Fire Monday Night Destroys Much Of Three Buildings On Main Street – UPDATE

Fire Monday night destroyed much three connected buildings that contained three businesses in the 600 block of Main Street in Trenton.  Fire Chief Brandon Gibler says the call came in about 4:05 pm and they arrived to find heavy smoke throughout multiple connected buildings that contained the Trenton Chamber of Commerce, a pawn shop and a beauty shop.  No injuries have been reported.

Gibler stated they began attacking the fire from the inside but due to a partial structure collapse, they retreated and worked the fire from outside.

Trenton ladder truck was used to attack the fire from above and Chillicothe arrived about 5:10 with their aerial truck and five fire fighters and added to the fire fight from above, pouring nearly 85,000 gallons of water on the blaze.

Gibler says there was a partial collapse of the exterior of the building and fire crews were still on the scene as of 1:00 am.  Chillicothe was on the scene for nearly 5 hours.

The State Fire Marshal was notified, and the fire is under investigation to determine the cause of the fire.

Trenton was assisted by several department on the fire, that include Chillicothe, Grundy Co Rural Fire, Jamesport and Laredo.  They were also assisted by several other agencies and utilities.
