Hornets Win MEC Soccer Title

The Chillicothe Hornets Boys Soccer Team has won at least a share of their first ever Midland Empire Conference Soccer Championship in school history.
The Hornets beat Benton at home 3-1 to finish at 6-1 in conference play. Other teams still have MEC games to play, but everyone in the conference has one or more conference losses.
Mason Baxter scored early in the contest in the third minute off a Drake Cosgrove assist for an early 1-0 Hornets lead.
Cosgrove scored in the 12th minute off a Ben Cueni-Smith assist. Baxter scored again in the 35th minute off a Cueni-Smith assist to make it 3-0.
Benton scored in the 38th minute. There was no scoring in the second half.
Hornets keeper Jaxon Albertson had seven saves in the game.
The JV squads played to a scoreless tie.
