Council Considering Ballot Language For Sales Tax To Support Police

The Chillicothe City Council reviewed ballot language for a proposed increase in the city’s sales tax to support the Chillicothe Police Department.  The proposed increase is ¼ of 1%.  City Administrator Darin Chappell explained why the additional funds are needed.

The council was presented with four versions of possible ballot language at Monday’s meeting.  Chappell says the wording of the ballot language is very important.

The council expects to decide what the ballot language will be on the ballot by their first meeting in January.
