Three Injured In Two Accidents Saturday

A Chula woman had serious injuries in an accident Saturday afternoon on US 36, east of Chillicothe.  Twenty-two-year-old Courtney Westcott of Chula was taken to Hedrick Medical Center following the accident on US 36, 4 miles east of Chillicothe at LIV 255.  The accident happened about 1:15 pm.  According to the report, Westcott and semi out of Texas were both eastbound and Westcott slowed to make a left turn and was run into from behind.  The impact caused Westcott’s vehicle into the medium and the semi was on the southside of the road partially blocking the road.  Both drivers were wearing safety belts.

 

At about 4:45 am Saturday, a two-car accident on Interstate 35 left both drivers with serious injuries.  The report states the accident was in Clay County when a Cameron woman, 45-year-old Jamie Hammett was northbound but stopped, partially blocking a northbound lane and was struck from behind by a car driven by 71-year-old Gary Hudgens of Grain Valley, ejected Hammett from her vehicle.  Both were taken to Liberty Hospital with serious Injuries and Hammett was later taken to St Luke’s.
