The Lady Hornets basketball team started slow and came up short, losing to Smithville 43-40 at the NCMC Holiday Hoops on Friday evening.
Smithville led 24-15 at halftime, and Chillicothe couldn’t overcome the 9 point deficit, despite the hot three point shooting of Jordan Hibner. She led the team with 15 points, Lucy Reeter with 12, Essie Hicks with 5, Jessica Reeter with 4, Brooke Horton and Ellie Barnett each with two and playing time for Hunter Keithley, Selby Miller, Haley Kidd, Clara Leamer and Ella Leamer.
The Chillicothe Junior Varsity girls lost to the North Mercer Varsity 39-16. North Mercer had one player with 18 points and one with 14. Scoring totals were not made available for Chillicothe JV.
