Animal Abuse Investigation Completed

An investigation of animal abuse that began December 6th was completed Monday.  The Livingston County Sheriff’s Department says a rural resident apparently killed several puppies.  Sheriff Steve Cox says a witness reported one puppy was still barely alive and took that pup to a local veterinarian office where it passed.

In November a dog the man was caring for gave birth to at least 7 puppies. On or about the 4th of December the suspect placed 6 puppies in the bags and another in a trash bag and placed them in another container. The suspect claimed he did not realize this was illegal and did not want to see the puppies starve.

A report was sent to the prosecuting attorney for consideration of charges.
