The Chillicothe Girls Softball team beat Penney High of Hamilton 3 to 1 in a pitchers duel in Chillicothe. Penney was a last-minute substitution for previously scheduled St Joseph Lafayette which had to back out of the game due to COVID-19 cases.
Chillicothe scored all three runs in the bottom of the first inning off a walk, a strikeout, and an RBI single from Kinlei Boley. After a ground out, Chillicothe scored again on a Kirsten Dunn triple to the right field. Dunn then scored on an error on the Penney High third baseman.
Hamilton scored in the top of the sixth off a ground ball single.
At the plate, Chillicothe had just two hits: the triple by Boley and the single by Dunn.
Boley earned the win, allowing one run off four hits with 12 strikeouts and no walks.
Hamilton allowed three runs off two hits with 15 strikeouts and two walks. The names of Hamilton players were not provided to KCHI.
