Fall Severe Weather Causes Damage Across The Region

Severe weather passed through the region Sunday afternoon and evening, with confirmed tornadoes near Mirabile in Caldwell County, north of Wheeling in Livingston County, and at Purdin in Linn County.  Funnels were sighted near Coffey in Daviess County and near Spickard in Grundy County.

Locally, the reported damages include:

A machine shed on 190 near Route A

Home and building damages and a semi-overturned, north of Wheeling between Route K and Route B

Significant damage in and around Purdin – propane tanks tossed across Highway 5, south of Purdin, several buildings damaged in the same area.  Trees and power line damage east of Purdin near the school.

There were no reports of injuries resulting from the storms.

The National Weather Service will be assessing the damages and storm tracks to determine actual tornadoes and the severity of the storms.
