Two Chillicothe Middle School basketball teams opened play in their annual Hornet Hoops Tournament.
The CMS 8th Grade girls beat Kirksville 30 to 14. Emerson Staton led Chillicothe with 19. The Lady Hornets defense held Kirksville to just 3 points in the second half.
The CMS 8th grade boys lost to Kirksville 36 to 10. Jaishon White led Chillicothe with 7 points.
Both Chillicothe teams continue tournament play Saturday at the Chillicothe Middle School Field House.
