Chillicothe R-II School Board To Consider Ballot Language

The Chillicothe R-II School Board will meet in a special session Tuesday morning to consider ballot language for the April Election.  They have two ballot questions to consider.

The first item is to borrow $9 million through the sale of General Obligation bonds for the expansion of the Chillicothe Elementary School to include grades 2-5.

If approved by the voters, the District’s debt service levy is expected to remain unchanged at $0.9660 per one hundred dollars of assessed valuation of real and personal property.

The second ballot item is to replace the existing 12 cents per hundred dollar valuation is set to expire in 2023, with a 12 cents per hundred dollar valuation with no sunset.

This is not an increase in the levy, but ending one 12 cent levy and replacing it with another.  The overall district levy would remain unchanged at $3.7393 per one hundred dollars of assessed valuation.
