The Trenton High School and Middle School students were evacuated from the building Wednesday afternoon due to an incident.
Trenton Police Chief Rex Ross says at about 1:40 pm, dispatch at the Grundy County Law Enforcement Center received a telephone call about a suspicious item at the Trenton High School. Officers responded to the school and according to the School District protocol, students were evacuated and released from their predetermined safe locations to their parents, guardians, or other designated individuals.
Ross says after the premises were searched by Law Enforcement Officers and specially trained canines, the buildings were deemed to be safe. The incident remains under investigation.
Trenton Police were assisted by the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office, Missouri State Highway Patrol, Kansas City International Airport Police, and Kansas City Police Department along with the Trenton Fire Department and Grundy County Ambulance Service.
