Chillicothe Boys Tennis Downed by Maryville, 4-5

Boys tennis played their third match in four days when they welcomed Maryville to Danner Park Thursday night.

Singles

Chace Corbin got back on track in the top singles match defeating Carson Kempf 8-2.  Jackson Reeter was triumphant in his number six singles match against Maryville’s Collin Sowards, 8-2.

In the number two singles match, Gabe Peterson fell to Kason Teale 2-8.  Emmett Young was unsuccessful in his quest to defeat the Spoofhounds’ James DiStefano in 4-8 fashion.

Maryville’s Jaxson Staples was able to top Chillicothe’s Josh Adams 2-8 in the number four singles match, and Jadon Collins lost to George Groumountis 3-8 in number five singles.

Doubles

The Hornets took two out of three in doubles play, including a win for Gabe Peterson and Emmett Young, 8-5, over Kempf and Colby Bowels in the number two matchup.

Chillicothe’s top doubles team, Corbin and Adams, were victorious, 8-5, over Teale and Staples.

The fate of the dual was held in the balance of the number three doubles match as both teams had won 4 contests a piece.

The combo of Collins and Reeter could not prevail over DiStefano and Groumoutis and lost 2-8.

The Spoofhounds bested Chillicothe, 5-4. Chillicothe is now 5-3 and has lost two straight duals.

They be back in action next April 26 when they visit Kirksville.
