Livingston County K9 & Handler Receive Letter Of Commendation

Livingston County Sheriff’s Department K9 Zaki and Handler Deputy Chris Mueller were commended by the Daviess County Sheriff, Ben Becerra, for their assistance in apprehending a suspect that was hiding in a corn field in August.

Becerra said they were in the third day of a search and they had the suspect who was allegedly involved in a $10 million dollar marijuana growing operation.  The perimeter of the field was secured and according to the letter, within 20 minutes of the arrival of Zaki, the suspect  was flushed from the field into the waiting arms of another officer.

Becerra called the apprehension of the suspect “CLASSIC.”  He further noted that without the assistance of Zaki, the suspect would not have been arrested.
