Dedication Of Roy Blunt Reservoir Held Near Site of Dam

The dedication of the Roy Blunt Reservoir in Sullivan County took place within sight of the future dam construction.  Senator Roy Blunt was among several dignitaries on hand for the event that recapped more than 40 years of work by area and regional representatives with a vision to bring a sustainable supply of drinking water and recreation to the area.

As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, Blunt led efforts to prioritize resources for the project in every government funding bill since FY2016, securing a total of nearly $80 million.

The Roy Blunt Reservoir service area includes Mercer, Putnam, Schuyler, Grundy, Sullivan, Adair, Livingston, Linn, Macon, and Chariton counties.

Senator Blunt commented on the vision to begin this project.

Blunt says he is pleased with the honor of having his name on the project.

As a couple of gifts to remember the honor, Senator Blunt was presented with a copy of the proclamation by the North Central Missouri Regional Water Commission naming the project the Roy Blunt Reservior and a shovel that can not be unwrapped until the permits are finalized and they are ready for official groundbreaking.
