2020 American Legion District Oratorical Contest Winners

Chillicothe High School Senior Madelyn Wilford was named district winner of the American Legion’s 86th annual High School Oratorical Scholarship Program, Saturday at Brookfield.  As the winner, Wilford will advance to Zone One competition in Hannibal on January 19th and compete with winners from Districts 1, 8 and 9.  The winner of that contest will advance to State competition in February.

Rachel Holt, a senior at Southwest Livingston County R-1 High School was named runner-up in what contest officials described as a close finish.  Holt will serve District Two as alternate to the Zone contest.

Chillicothe’s Vern R Glick American Legion Post 25 members are particularly proud that both speakers represented their Post as well as Livingston County schools. Wilford received a $300 scholarship from the District and will receive another $1000 scholarship from Post 25 once she competes at the Zone level. Holt will receive a $500 scholarship for competing at District.
